I'm Elaine Isely

I’m running for Kent County Drain Commissioner because I believe that everyone has a right to clean water. What we do on the land affects the water that drains into our rivers, lakes, and streams; and how we manage that water is becoming more and more important as we’re seeing more rain and storms more frequently.

It is the Drain Commissioner who is trusted with the important role of managing our stormwater and water drainage to help prevent flooding and water pollution. I am the best-qualified candidate to deliver the needed experience and practices to protect our waterways in Kent County.
My experience checks out:
  • 15 years experience working on water resources management and policy issues
  • Published expert on economic valuation of environmental benefits and collaborative management of natural resources
  • Founding member and current Chair of Grand Rapids Stormwater Oversight Commission
  • Founding member of the Wolverine Worldwide Tannery Community Advisory Group
  • Appointed member of the Michigan State Waterways Commission
  • Advisor to Michigan State University Extension's Water School
  • Advisor to Grand Valley State University's Natural Resources Management Program
