I have lived in Kent County for more than 20 years. During that time, I have served residents of West Michigan as a lawyer, researcher, and environmental professional. I’ve worked primarily in the nonprofit and academic sectors for organizations such as Legal Aid, Grand Valley State University, and the Great Lakes Commission. I am currently the Director of Water Programs at the West Michigan Environmental Action Council.

I currently live in Grand Rapids Township with my family. My husband, Paul, is a regionally respected economist who works in the Dean’s office of GVSU’s Seidman College of Business. My son, Terrance, is a 3rd grader at Stepping Stones Montessori School; he loves animals, skiing, and drawing his own comics.

My decision to run is a personal one. I want to ensure that my son has access to clean and safe drinking water as he grows, and that the local official responsible for this has the necessary experience to do this, and the local official responsible for this has the necessary experience and understanding of best practices.. I hope you will support my candidacy and join me in our race to protect Kent County’s waterways.

My experience checks out:
  • 15 year experience working on water resources management and policy
  • Published expert on economic valuation of environmental benefits and collaborative management of natural resources
  • Founding member and current Chair of Grand Rapids Stormwater Oversight Commission
  • Founding member of the Wolverine Worldwide Tannery Community Advisory Group
  • Appointment member of the Michigan State Waterways Commission
  • Advisor to Michigan State University Extension's Water School
  • Advisor to Grand Valley State University's Natural Resources Management Program
